Moteo Marae
About Us
Moteo Marae is one of the many hearts of our local Iwi or tribe Ngati Kahungunu. Our main purpose as a Marae is to provide a meeting place, open space for recreation, buildings and facilities to hire for the common use of our beneficiaries and local community.
We come together in the rural area of Puketapu located just outside of Napier, Hawkes Bay and are registered as a Charitable Trust under The Moteo B2G2 Reserve. The beneficiaries of the Marae are all descendants of Ngāti Kahungunu iwi from the following three hapū or subtribes.
Ngai Tāwhao Ngāti Hinepare Ngāti Maahu.

Manaaki 400 Club
This is our Moteo B2G2 Reserve Charitable Trust Manaaki 400 Club.
All of our members are valued whanau who invest into the maintenance, improvement and future of our Marae. Your whanau name will be proudly displayed in the foyer of the Marae and will be a part of the Trustees meetings and also included in the Marae AGM report. The whanau may be eligible for discounts relating to Marae hire also although this is subject to the trustees approval; for any inquiries relating to bookings please email (ENTER EMAIL ADDRESS)
Our goal is to sign up 400 whanau members who whakapapa to Moteo Marae for a regular commitment of investment no matter how much. Our aim is to ensure that the future generations of our Marae continue to care for the welfare of our Land and Iwi and have the means, knowledge and funds to do so. All reserve will be inserted into financing the maintenance and improvement of the Marae Buildings, grounds, urupa, gardens and equipment.
We have approximately 50 members or The Manaaki 400 Club and are currently in a place where the income the marae receives is not enough to maintain its every day running costs. We want to address this and we hope you do too.
Individual or family automatic payments can be set up at your bank or through internet banking using your name or your whanau name as the payee reference. Please contact our administrator Annette Purves at admin@moteomarae.nz to inform us of which whanau members are contributing also to be displayed in the marae.
Our commitment is to ensure that you and your whanau have a Marae to call home.
